Translator's Note

"It is very easy to see fanaticism in other people but very difficult to spot it in oneself ", what a fine remark by EM Forster on the real condition of his own decision-makers! The details will show the truth that the name of 'Rabwah' was changed according to the demands of the masses to maintain the sanctity of the verses from the Holy Quran. One is wonderstruck to know that this check, legal & lawful check to impious alteration in the meaning of sacred word of the Holy Quran was declared by the Western Pundits as to be "the meanness of fanatic Muslims".

Had the ecclesiastics of the West a little liberty of conscience, surely would not the great intellectuals from Chaucer to the modern ones have made them the object of severe criticism. It is a shocking truth to see the champions of love & liberty, too prejudiced & narrow minded to tolerate the truth. Not any other person but the English sages themselves when try to show them the mirror, so severely they react to this exposition of reality, the poor ones can't help asking,"Why should any clergy man of our church be angry to see the follies of fanaticism & superstition exposed?" Just for the sake of enmity with the Muslims, the West are backing up a faction whose savage indignation has not even saved the Christian relics to be lacerated. This name of 'Rabwah' alongwith an alteration in the meanings of the sacred verses from the Holy Quran, was a sacrilegious conspiracy against Christ & his child place. All the Muslims truly believe in the Holy Mary & her blessed Son. The Qadyanis try to disgrace them, but they are always supported against the Muslims by the "true" followers of Christ. The fact -says a Western Sage-is "that many of that reverned body are not always very nice in distinguishing between their enemies & their friends." If it is read unprejudiced, the booklet will surely show the difference between enemies & friends.

RABWAH INTO CHENAB NAGAR

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Grammatically “Rabwah” means “something higher” or “a mound”. In the Holy Quran “Rabwah” refers to a “high ground” or “rich garden”. Twice the word has been there in the Holy Quran.

Historical Background

Here is the 50th verse of Sura Al-Mumenun from the Holy Quran:

وجعلنا ابن مريم وامه آية و آوينهما الى ربوة ذات قرار و معين (المومنون ٥٠)

(And we made the son of Mary & his mother as a sign; we gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest & security & furnished with springs.)

The verse was revealed about the Holy Christ & his mother that they were sheltered on “Rabwah”, a high place.The reason for sheltering there is revealed by the religious scholars that there had been a tyrant there when the Holy Jesus was an infant & the king wanted to kill him. As the Almighty wanted to bestow Prophethood upon him, He, rescuing them from the tyrant, gave both of them a shelter on such a high ground which was rich & suitable for dwelling due to vegetation, fruit & springs. At last he grew young. He remained there for twelve years till the

said king was dead. In this way God showed His Divine Strategy that whole of the kingdom is keen to kill a person but cannot while there is only one God promising to save him & saves him. 'Tis the Divine Sign.

Abu Qatada and Abu-ul-Aalia say that 'Rabwah 'refers to Elia, a neighboring place to Jerusalem. According to Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) it is "Ramla", Ibn-i-Zaid says it is the land of Egypt. Magatal and Zahaak declare it to be the low-lying area of Damascus.

The details show that the above mentioned verse was revealed about Christ & 'Rabwah' means the place where he spent his childhood.

Now in the neighborhood of Chiniot on the west bank of the river Chenab why was it needed to give a place the name of 'Rabwah' which was already called "Chak Dheghiyan" (a place near hill) supporting a few thousand of population?

It is quite obvious that Jesus was born at Bethlehem in Damascus almost two thousand years ago while Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadyani was born at Qadyan, Gordaspur district in India in 1840 AD. Despite 1840 years broad difference, Mirza Qadyani, in his different books claims sometime to be the Holy Mary & sometime the son of Mary. Mirza Qadyani says;

When such claims were too much in his writings, the Muslims asked the Qadyanis when Jesus spent his childhood at 'Rabwah' in Palestine & their Mirza was born, bred & buried at Qadyan in India, what kind of Jesus Christ he was?

As Pakistan was coming into existence, it became difficult for the Qadyanis to live at their center. According to their preplanned conspiracy they took enough land on lease of 90 years near Chiniot on the West Bank of the river Chenab from the British Governor 'Moody'. There they built a new city. Taking the dvantage of the Holy verse, in 1948, it was Mirza Jalal-ud-Din Shams,who gave this city the name of 'Rabwah', They deceived the common people making them believe that the name of 'Rabwah' in the verse of the Holy Quran about Jesus, refers infact to the so-called 'Rabwah near Chiniot. There was no fair reason to this, other than it, to give it this name. Had it been named after any of their leader, it would have been impossible for them to deceive the masses with this hideous & heinous alteration of the Holy verse. When the people, now unaware of the background & history of 'Rabwah', in Pakistan & abroad, recite the Holy Quran, they take this so-called 'Rabwah' of Pakistan for the place where Jesus Christ spent his childhood. It was this cause of defending against the great confusion about the child place of the Holy Christ that the Muslims demanded for the change in the name of the town so that the coming generations be saved from misdirection through this fatal & most sacrilegious alteration in the child place of Jesus Christ.

Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti, the victor of 'Rabwah' had been demanding for this change through banners, placards, stickers & speeches since long ago. The stress was enhanced upon the demand on his return from a visit to West Africa in 1976. The late president of Pakistan Gen. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq presided over the Ulema Convention in Islamabad on 21-22-August 1980. It was among the Maulana's ten demands there that the name of 'Rabwah', the International Head Quarter of the Qadyanis be changed as they had made a very

sacrilegious alteration in the 50th verse of Sura Muminoon in the Holy Quran.

When Maulana Chinioti was elected MPA in 1985, he put the case forward to the forum of Punjab Assembly. Not only he demanded for the change but also gave alternative names such as Chenab Nagar, Iqbal Nagar. Bukhari Nagar, Fehd Nagar & Gulshan Nagar. Continuously "Idara Markazia Dawat-o-Irshad Chiniot", through stickers and banners demanded for the change. On 17 June 1986, the Town Committee of 'Rabwah' by a unanimous resolution also agreed upon the change of the name. The demand incessantly remained a top priority for various Unions & Organizations of the Muslims. Consequently on 16 Nov. 1998, Maulana Chinioti demanded again for the change in the name of the city in a session of Provincial Assembly, in support of which almost a hundred of MPAs & Ministers put their signatures in anticipation. The demand as follows:

"The Assembly agrees upon that the name of 'Rabwah' be changed according to the government record as Chak Dheghiyan or some other & the unfair use of the sacred word of the Holy Quran be prohibited."This resolution of Maulana Chinioti, the victor of 'Rabwah' was unanimously agreed upon.

THE NEWSPAPER S REPORT

"The resolution to change the name of 'Rabwah' is undisputedly agreed upon in the Punjab Assembly. Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chinioti is selected as member of the committee to suggest the new name."

The news was received with open arms by the masses. The noble deed of Assembly was appreciated by everyone among the Muslims of the country & abroad as well but very regretfully it is to mention that the VOA declared this decision to be " the meanness of fanatic Muslims'; while it goes without question that the Nonmuslims can't use Muslim Terminology. The word 'Rabwah' has been taken, as mentioned already, from the Holy Quran & the Qadyanis have been declared as Nonmuslims even by the Christian States, their use of Islamic Phraseology in very Pakistan, the 1slamic Republic, is an ignoble practice. It is irony, whenever a bill is passed in Islamic Legislative against Qadyanis, a storm of contaminated propaganda is raised by the States and UK, against the believers of not only the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but Jesus Christ also. It seems, they have regard neither for the public opinion of the Muslims nor for their religious values.

If the Qadyanis beg for the securities privileged to the minorities, first they should declare themselves as a minority. Is it possible for the Jews or Christians to allow the followers of other religions to use their terminology? Is not it too much fanaticism of the Jews that the racial Jews only, according to them are the real Jews? In the same way, the Christians are never least willing to leave the dogmatic words like Church & Pope. If the Muslims call as a Church to their Mosque or even try to say prayers in a Church, though it be transformed into a Church from the Mosque ----- the grand Cordoba Mosque of Spain and many others -----where does fly away their broadmindedness? A cell of European Press, infact, is always busy in pouring out poison against the Muslims since Crusades.

It is strange enough that the Christians back up a faction whose arrogance has shamefully tried to insult Christ. In his so-called 'revelation' Mirza Qadyani is often aiming against the sacred name & noble character of Christ. In one of his books Mirza speaks thus,"Christ was much derogated. He was spit on the mouth, lashed with hunters on the body where the sinners are lashed and he was put behind the bars."

Defending the titles of Prophets & phraseology of the Holy Quran is not fanaticism. On the other hand, speaking or publishing something derogative against any religion is against Basic Human Rights. The hundred years history of the Qadyanis is replete with such an insulting criticism against every religion of the world that it seems a conspiracy against whole of the dogmatic system. It is sorry that the Christians are bringing up the white ant, which is sparing not even Christianity to be eaten up.

It is also a notable fact, this change of name is in no way a negative attitude. It has already been so that in Pakistan, the dear homeland, the name of city Montgomry was changed into Sahiwal, Choharkana into Farooqabad & Layalpur into Faisalabad. It was done according to the public demands to remove all the remnants of the colonial rule. Likewise was this demand of the people, rising from homes, it reached the Legislative Assembly with two aims:

Thanks to Allah that the Change in the name of 'Rabwa' into "Chanab Nagar" has been accomplished in all institutions. The religious, welfare & political organizations & international societies has sent very many congratulations and appreciatoins on the successful completion of this great mission.

The Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Muhammad Bin Abduallah-al-Subayyal has declared :

" It is the great decision of the last century."

On the accasion of Hadj, welcome parties were arranged in the Holy Makkah & Madina Munawwra in the honor of Maulana Manzoor Ahmed Chinioti and he was conferred with Dasta-e-Fazeelat ( Traditional Turban of Honor). A splendid inaugural ceremony for the change in the name of "Rabwa" was held on 26th Feb, 1999. All the efforts of the Qadyanis to hinder the change have been hindered like their efforts to be misunderstood as Muslims.

THE JUDICIAL ACTION

It seems adequate to mention the Judicial Action against those who showed a malicious reaction against the name, Chanab Nagar. This change of name was indeed the derided demolition of Qadyani's dark designs of fifty years.The infuriated Qadyanis threatened to disgrace the fair name. It was rightly feared that they would try to dishonour the signboards and plates of the new name. That's why Maulana Chinioti declared whoever tried to delete the lawful name of Chanab Nagar, a case would be lodged against the acting

leaders and advisors of the Qadyanis. Meanwhile, on 26th February 1999, the Memorial Tablet of Chanab Nagar was fixed at the Chanab Nagar Bus Stop.

The Qadyanis, according to their usual meanness not only began to delete the fair name from the public and private signboards but also tried to indignate the Quranic Verses engraved on the Memorial Tablet. This savage indignation of the Holy Verses calls for Capital Punishment. The case was lodged against Mirza Masroor, the vice chief of Qadyanis and the brother in law to Mirza Nasir; Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Ayaz Mehmood; the President General of Chanab Nagar; Master Muhammad Hussain and Muhammad Akbar, the main pieces of Qadyanis Chess. The imprisonment of these so called sacred Pundits was far more difficult than lodging an FIR which itself was something like attaining the impossible. After lodgment of the case, Qadayais applied to the Lahore Highcourt for bail and were ordered to appear before the session Judge (Jhang). They were returned to Chiniot at last. They got temporary bail but were entangled worsely in to the case. The services for legal proceedings on our side were offered by Malak Rab Nawaz Advocate, the ex member of the Punjab Bar and celebrated solicitor of Prophethood Finality. The senior solicitors of Highcourt and Supremecourt were supporting the Qadyanis but the single solicitor of the Holy Prophet ( PBUH) was supported by God. The

opponents used all their sources to entrap the officers and offered them even blank cheques but God Almighty was to glorify the truthful. Mr Muhammad Aslam Khan, the Additional Session Judge Chiniot, rejected their bail on 30th April 1999, got them arrested and sent to the Jhang jail. It was the first chance in the hundred years histroy of Qadyanis that the member of their self proclaimed Prophet Family was put behind the bars. It was so great a task that our government might try to arrest the president of the USA, but not the grand son of Mirza Tahir. A wave of great joy and jubilance spread among the Muslims and we happily received the messages of congratulations from all over the Muslim world.

FELICITY OF HADJ AND UMRA

FOR THE ADVOCATES OF

PROPHETHOOD FINALITY

The blessed admirers of Prophethood Finality in the KSA declared they would bear the Umra expenses of the plaintiff and advocate of the case, so they sent two tickets and we were able to set off for the Umra on 12th October 1999. When this great news was

heard by the honourable Nasir-ul-Abudy, the Deputy Secretary General of Rabta Aalam-i-Islami, he offered to bear the expenses of Hadj for Malak Rab Nawaz and Maulana Manzoor Ahmed Chinioti. By the grace of the Gracious God, both the persons had the felicity of performing Hadj that year.

QADYANIS IN THE COURT

The imprisonment was like an inferno upon the Qadyani Nation. When their tries to be in bail after imprisonment in the Subcourts turned futile, they approched and got the Highcourt pressurized by their western gods, the president and prime minister of the USA and the UK respectively.

THE CULPRITS AT LARGE

On the 10th of May, after ten days of their imprisonment, we were informed that the Qadyanis were bailed out and set free by the Highcourt. Highly astonished, we inquired how this lawlessness was possible by the Highcourt when the plaintiff was not given a chance to argue. We came to know then that it was ordered by the ex Cheif Minister, Shehbaz Sharif that the Qadyanis must be released at every cost in that evening. So the DIG Faisalabad changed the inquiry, omitted the clause 295c which was the heart and soul of the case and got them bailed out from the Resident Magistrate. The entire procedure was illegal because the DIG of Police can never and never drop a clause of an article which is considered adequate by the Highcourt Judge. The Judge was threatened severely

when, on request, he tried to put the culprits under custody. The case remained persued and the new Judge also judged their relase as an illegal action and ordered to arrest them again. Now they are again at the door of Highcourt but they are destined to lick the dust at last and be imprisoned again. ( Deo Volente)

Here is the Original Text of the news about the change of the name in " The Nawa-i-Waqt , " one of the most celebrated daily newspapers of Pakistan.

بقیہ 39 پنجاب اسمبلی ہیں۔ سپیکر نے انہیں کہا کہ مخالفت کریں یا حمایت، کچھ کہیں تو سہی۔ تو وہ بولے کہ متفقہ منظور کرلیں، اور وزیر بلال پھر کھڑے ہو گئے اور کہا کہ وہ پوائنٹ آف آرڈر پر کچھ کہنا چاہتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ چونکہ وہ مسلمان ہیں اور مخالفت نہیں کرنا چاہتے۔ ان کا صرف یہ کہنا ہے کہ کاغذات میں جو نام ربوہ درج ہے اسے تبدیل کرنا ان کے بس میں نہیں ہے۔ نام بدلنے کیلئے کمیٹی بنادی جائے صوبائی وزیر نے کہا کہ ربوہ کا نام مصطفیٰ آباد رکھ لیا جائے اس سے بہتر نام نہیں ہو سکتا ہے۔ قاضی حمید اللہ نے کہا کہ اس قرارداد کے اصل محرک مولانا منظور چنیوٹی ہیں ان کے سمیت کمیٹی بنادی جائے۔ سپیکر نے کہا کہ جو بھی تجاویز اس نام کی تبدیلی کے سلسلہ میں دینا چاہتے ہیں وہ وزیر بلال سے مل لیں کیونکہ کمیٹی بننے سے صرف تاخیر ہو گی اور کام لٹک جائے گا اور نئے نام، اراکین کی طرف سے وزیر موصوف کو دے دیئے جائیں۔ وزیر اعلیٰ کو خراج تحسین کے بارے میں مولوی سلطان محمود انصاری کی ایوان میں پیش کردہ قرارداد کے چھپنے کے باوجود قراردادیں ایوان میں نہ آسکیں جس پر انہوں نے شدید برہمی کا اظہار کیا۔ پنجاب اسمبلی میں تحفظ ختم نبوت کا مسودہ قانون پیش کر دیا گیا۔ مسلم لیگی رکن اسمبلی میاں طارق محمود نے پیش کردہ مسودہ قانون کو ایوان نے متفقہ طور پر بحث کیلئے منظور کیا اور سپیکر چوہدری پرویز الٰہی نے مسودہ قانون کو مزید غوروخوض کے لئے متعلقہ قائمہ کمیٹی کے سپرد کر دیا جو 31 دسمبر تک رپورٹ پیش کرے گی۔
